The history of the creation of such machines as a forklift began in the 20s of the last century.

The reason for the emergence of this technique was the intensive development of industry.

Introduced conveyor technologies have significantly increased the number of goods produced.

Their scale required the automation of loading and unloading processes, in connection with the release of large consignments of goods.

During the existence of the USSR, Bulgaria was allocated an important role as a manufacturer of forklifts and other handling equipment for the socialist camp.

The first Bulgarian forklift was released in 1952. And already in 1964 a number of leading Bulgarian enterprises and research institutes came together under the Balkancar trademark.

This association was so successful that in 1978 the Balkancar holding came in first place in the world in terms of the number of production of loading and unloading equipment such as electric or diesel forklift, electric car and electric cart.

By 1992, the production volume of Balkancar forklifts reached over two million units, of which more than one million machines were supplied to the USSR.

The Bulgarian Balkancar forklifts gained great popularity not only in the Soviet Union and other socialist countries, but also in the neighboring capitalist countries.
